What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan key fob or it stopped working. Before you panic or call the dealer, go back and check where you last saw it.
It's not a big deal to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. It may be difficult at first but you'll get grasp of it in no time.
Smart Keys Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is an essential part of the car's advanced keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronics to unlock doors or start the engine, and has a practical design that is easy to keep in your pocket. Key fobs also come with convenience features such as a lockout protection function that ensures you won't wander out of your vehicle with keys inside.
Unlike previous models of key fobs that required you to put the key in an ignition slot to gain access to the onboard systems in your vehicle, smart keys operate wirelessly. Nissan detects when you approach your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This could include opening and closing the doors, lowering or raising the tailgate, or even launching the engine.
Some smart key models have a hidden metal valet key. The key can be pulled by a release that is located on the side of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox prior to giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob also features an charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
You may have to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working properly. The owner's manual will offer instructions on how to change the batteries on most fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs enable you to unlock the doors of your vehicle and start the engine with just a touch of a button. You can also activate presets to meet your preferences. For example, you can adjust the seat and mirrors to maximize comfort. You can even control the music using your smartphone, ensuring that you'll never need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs come with an antenna that transmits an alert to your vehicle when you press a button or approach it. When the vehicle receives the signal and the system is activated for locking and unlocking doors, starting up the engine, or opening the trunk. To test the fob remove yourself from your car and press on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sound it means you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to function. If yours runs out, our Parts Department can help you change it quickly and conveniently. To do this, take out the key hidden in the lock and open the battery compartment of your key fob. Replace the battery with a brand new one after removing the previous one. Make sure that the positive side of the new battery faces the same direction that the previous one did. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the hidden key to its hidden place within the case.
Remote Start

Nissan remote start is a feature that permits drivers to heat or cool their vehicle from outside of the vehicle, if they are within operating range. The ignition of the vehicle can be activated by pressing an appropriate button on the key fob or mobile application. The remote start system may also activate the climate control which allows the driver to choose their preferred temperature. Some systems include two-way communication that lets the driver know what's happening inside their vehicle.
If your car's remote start feature isn't functioning, the most likely reason is that the battery isn't working. The key fob has a small, replaceable battery that lasts for about two years before it needs to be replaced. The battery can be replaced easily, but you will need to be aware of where the hidden key is on your Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the compartment for the battery.
Flip your fob upside down, and press the latch on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is open take the old battery out and replace it with a brand new one, making sure it is in line with the dimensions and layout of the existing battery. Before closing the case's outer, make sure that the hidden key is inserted and the key fob has been reassembled correctly. Contact our parts department for help in replacing your Intelligent Key fob battery.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection prevents lockouts that result from impedance problems. A special module in power control is able to monitor the activity of the impedance relay and shuts off the output. This feature is available on vehicles with the Smart Key system, or by using the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have occurred as a result of the machine was running when it was supposed to be completely off for repairs or maintenance. These accidents are often caused by stored energy that is not properly released. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems help to prevent these incidents by ensuring that machines are off until the person who is authorized releases them.
The LOTO system is comprised of a number of locks tags, locks and other devices that are used to secure, isolate or isolate the machine from electrical sources. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel should be trained on the use of lockout and tagout devices. These devices include but aren't only chains, locks padslocks, wedges adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is singularly identified and labeled, containing the date and time of the application, the name of the authorized individual and the reason behind the lockout/tag-out (repair, maintenance, etc). The KeyLab is imperative to state clearly that these devices are not to be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
